The boys had a grand time yesterday and finished up all the work on the St. Patrick's Day lapbooks. Now what will we do today? lol :: oh well I'll find something <g>. Anyway, here are the pictures that I promised of them *smile*.
Drk. Blue::Roo's, Lt. Blue::JC's
Project 1: Where in the world is Ireland? We used online mapping through google to discover just where Ireland is located and then I had the boys pin point it on a world map and on a map of just Europe.
Project 2: A bit of green... we got out the big box of crayons and dug through to find all the greens and then I had them write the names and draw a line with the crayon to see all the shades.
Project 3: St. Patrick... we found a prayer card of him and then I printed a prayer on the card, we discussed what he did and where he came from.
Project 4: Why Shamrocks? We searched for the story that St. Patrick used to teach Christians about the Holy Trinity. I printed out the description and a shamrock.
Project 5: Mazes and Word Searches... we used the ones provided from Live and Learn Press. Also, I had JC do the harder math project. But, we did not do the graphing project because of the food allergies we have... I figured it would be to hard to graph the cereal and then not get to eat some <g>.
Project 6: Legends... I printed out the Leprechaun legend and read it to the boys.
Project 7: With my treasure... I had them imagine if they had caught a leprechaun and had his treasure what would they buy... then they wrote out HUGE lists lol.
Project 8: What's to eat? We discussed traditional Irish cuisine. This got a lot of laughs because my kids are very leery about what they eat (those pesky food allergies again) and because some of the foods are just so strange *smile*.
Project 9: Blessings... the Irish love blessings so we googled some and then read 20 or so and I had them pick out there favorites so we could include them.
We then assembled the books and added a fun picture of a leprechaun that I picked up from a ladies blog... she has beautiful art work. In fact if you see something pretty and artistic here... it's most likely from her blog. She is very generous, in letting those of us who can't figure out digital art, use some of hers *smile*. I have this thing about clip art ... it must be very pretty and I prefer either digital art or pictures so that's why our lapbooks don't look much like the originals when we down load them *smile*.

I love this! I found your blog from the lapbooking group that I just joined. We're going to start a lapbook on birds tomorrow. We're using HOAC, but I really want to do one "all on my own" soon. I'm just struggling with how to do it. Thanks for the ideas!

I got your link from the Lapbooking Yahoo Group. This lapbook looks great. I love lapbooks, but we haven't done one yet. It's great how you outlined in detail the projects you guys did for this one. I haven't looked through your archives yet, but was wondering if you've detailed any other lapbooks in this way.

You have inspired me - we didn't do a ST. Patty's lap book, but there's still next week.:) We had some fun St. Patty
s day traditions and I need to still do them. Also, I have been wanting to learn to sew with my daughter. We got her a sewing machine for Christmas (still in the box...ugh) and these totes are AWESOME! How fun - you are quite the seamstress.
blessings,
Jen
